Uruguay April 2022: Hyundai best-seller for the first time, market down -13.8%
Hyundai holds 16.9% of the Uruguayan new light vehicle market in April.
New light vehicle sales in Uruguay fall -13.8% year-on-year in April, marking the third loss this year so far. The year-to-date volume now edges down -0.1% to 16,710. Note April 2021 figures have been revised. There’s a big event atop the brands charts: Hyundai (+91.2%) is up five spots on March to become the best-seller outright for the first time in Uruguyan history with a whopping 16.9% share. Fiat (+164.2%), #1 year-to-date, also displays a fantastic year-on-year but drops to 2nd place. Suzuki (-31.4%) is in trouble but stays at #3 while Renault (+12.9%), Toyota (+10.6%) and most strikingly Chery (+100%) defy the negative environment with significant year-on-year upticks. Below, notice Mini (+250%), BMW (+146.7%), Honda (+130.8%) and Volvo (+100%) in outstanding shape.
