Kuwait March 2022: Toyota Prado, Chevrolet Captiva shoot to top of the charts, sales up 14.5%

The Toyota Prado is the best-selling vehicle in Kuwait in April.

New light vehicle sales in Kuwait shoot up 14.5% year-on-year in April to 10,048 units. Toyota (+82.7%) and Chevrolet (+62.3%) both post fantastic gains to rank #1 and #2 brand respectively, in complete contrast with Mitsubishi (-44.4%) and Nissan (-50.4%). Ford (-17.2%) rounds out the Top 5 but also goes against the positive market. MG (+88.5%) is up to #6 vs. #10 over the Full Year 2021 while Changan (+242.5%) enters the Top 10 at #8. Kia (+16.7%) also beats the market but a lot less convincingly. Closing the Top 10 are Hyundai (+7.2%) and Lexus (-36.6%) both underperforming.

Model-wise, the Top 3 models score surreal upticks: the Toyota Prado is up 900% to #1 and 22.7% share, the Chevrolet Captiva up 632.7% to #2 and 4% share and the Toyota Corolla surges 141.5% to #3 and 3.2% of the market. The 3 next models for their part fare very poorly: the Toyota Camry (-63.4%), Land Cruiser SW (-28.2%) and Mitsubishi L200 (-21.1%) would rather forget this month. The Toyota Hiace (+20.8%) is the only additional Top 10 nameplate to better the market while the Toyota Hilux (+2.2%), Ford F-Series (-8%) and Chevrolet Tahoe (-20.4%) all fare worse.
