Kazakhstan March 2022: Hyundai Sonata leads, breaks all records in market up 28%

The Hyundai Sonata is the best-selling vehicle in Kazakhstan in March.

New vehicle sales in Kazakhstan soar 28% year-on-year in March to 10,704 units, leading to a year-to-date off -7% to 22,370 due to social unrest at the start of the year which triggered a -53% fall in January. Hyundai (+69.5%) easily beats the market to remain ultra-dominant with 30.2% share and breaks its all-time volume record at 3,232. Chevrolet (-20%) rallies back up two spots on February to #2, ahead of Kia (+273.2%) and Lada (+348.7%) both in spectacular shape. Renault (+35.6%) and JAC (+31.5%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Nissan (-3.8%) dips down. Notice newcomers Chery (+9) breaking into the Top 10 for the first time at #10 and Haval stable at #11.

Model-wise, the Hyundai Sonata (+431.9%) breaks its volume (1,085) and share (10.1%) records to lift to the pole position for the first time and is now also #1 year-to-date. The Chevrolet Cobalt (-6.3%) is back up three spots to #2 both for the month and YTD, it distances the Hyundai Accent (-2.9%) and Lada Granta (+2248%). The Hyundai Tucson (+919.2%) also displays surreal growth as do the Kia Cerato (+31800%) and Chevrolet Trailblazer (+800%). The VW Polo (+48.6%) and Hyundai Elantra (+35.6%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10, as does the Lada Vesta (+54.7%) just below. The Chevrolet Equinox (#20) leads recent launches above the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 (#22), Kia Sorento (#23) and Chery Tiggo 8 (#24).
