New Caledonia (France) January-February 2022: Toyota ultra dominant

New light vehicle sales in New Caledonia, a French overseas territory located north east of Australia, gain 8.3% year-on-year in February to 613 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 13.7% to 1,208. Toyota (+56%) surges ahead to dominate the brands ranking head and shoulders with 19.1% share and 21.2% year-to-date. Dacia (-15.2%) rallies back up four spots on January to #2, distancing Renault (+12.8%) and Citroen (+2.8%). Kia (+208.3%), Mitsubishi (+175%) and Suzuki (+153.8%) show explosive growth in the remainder of the Top 10. Changan (+333.3%) leads Chinese carmakers above Geely (#14), FAW (#15) and MG (#16).
Over in the models ranking, the Dacia Duster (+6%) passes the Toyota Hilux (+41.7%) for #1 while the Renault Kwid is up four spots on January to land on the third step of the podium. The Suzuki Jimny (+850%) soars to #4 above the Toyota RAV4 (+72.7%), Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and Toyota Raize. The Toyota Yaris, Dacia Sandero and Kia Picanto round out the Top 10.
