The Luxembourg new car market edges down -1.7% year-on-year in 2021 to 44.426 registrations. Volkswagen (+1%) defies the negative market with a small uptick leading to an improved market share at 11.6%. Mercedes (-7%) isn’t that lucky but stays in 2nd place with 10.2% share, keeping BMW (+3.9%) at bay. Audi (+2.1%) is also up at #4 while Peugeot (+19.2%) steps up two spots to break into the Top 5. Below, Skoda (-17.9%) and Renault (-30.6%) are in trouble but Fiat (+25.5%) cracks the Top 10 at #8. Hyundai (+9.6%) is also strong at #9 but Ford (-24.2%) struggles and drops two ranks to round out the Top 10. Further down, notice Tesla (+34.3%), Kia (+19.8%), Honda (+18.6%) and Porsche (+13.7%) posting very satisfying gains while Cupra (+2000%) ends its first full year in market at #28 with 0.8% share.
