Saudi Arabia 9 months 2021: Changan (+42.7%), MG (+51.1%) help lift market up 27%
Changan ranks 5th brand in Saudi Arabia so far in 2021.
New car sales in Saudi Arabia surge 27% year-on-year over the first 9 months of 2021 to 424,689 units. Toyota (+29.4%) edges past the market growth to post a 28.1% market share while Hyundai (+19.4%) is more shy at 17.2% of the market. Nissan (+24.9%) rounds out the podium ahead of Mazda (+1.5%) and Changan (+42.7%). MG (+51.1%) delivers the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10 with Ford (+38.8%) also strong but Isuzu (+16.6%) and Kia (+7.5%) weaker and Chevrolet (-18.6%) in negative. Geely (+334.8%) is climbing the ladder to #12, while Haval appears at #14 and Great Wall at #17. Peugeot (+251.1%) and Genesis (+90.2%) also impress.
Model-wise, the Toyota Camry (+45.4%) easily tops the charts with 6.5% share ahead of two Hyundais: the Accent (+14.9%) and Elantra (-8.1%) both trailing the market. The Toyota Yaris (+35.3%) ends the period at #4 ahead of the Toyota Hilux (+7.2%) and Nissan Sunny (+22.6%). The Hyundai Sonata (+129.4%) takes full advantage of the new generation and steps up to #9 vs. #14 over the Full Year 2020. Outstanding score also by the Ford Taurus (+77.2%) at #10 vs. #20 over FY2020. Below, the MG ZS (+285.6%), Mitsubishi L200 (+145.9%), Chevrolet Captiva (+122.7%) and MG5 (+107.6%) stand out. The Haval H6 (#35) is the best-selling recent launch above the Changan Eado Plus (#38), Geely Tugella (#50), Great Wall Wingle (#52), Changan CS75 Plus (#55), Kia Sonet (#57) and Haval Jolion (#60).
