Syria January-August 2021: Hyundai Tucson new leader in market down -3.1%

The Hyundai Tucson is the best-selling vehicle in Syria so far in 2021.

The Syrian new car market slides down -3.1% year-on-year over the first 8 months of 2021 at 1.490 sales vs. 1.538 over the same period a year ago. Only two carmakers continue to sell new cars in Syria and they are both Korean. Compared to our previous update at the 4-months mark, Hyundai improves its share slightly from 61.7% to 62.6% whereas Kia drops from 38.3% to 37.4%. The models ranking is completely reshuffled and crowns the Hyundai Tucson up two spots on its 4 months (4m) ranking with 25% share, potentially helped by the new generation. It distances the Hyundai H100 up four ranks on 4m to 18.3% share, the Kia Pegas up one to 16.1% and the Kia Cerato down two to 12.3%. Leader after 4 months, the Hyundai Elantra is down to #5 after 8, ahead of the Hyundai Reina and Kia Rio which was absent from the 4 months ranking.
