Pakistan August 2021: Suzuki Alto and Cultus top market up 85.2%
The Suzuki Alto remains the best-selling vehicle in Pakistan.
According to PAMA, sales of locally-produced light vehicles in Pakistan leap up 85.2% year-on-year in August to 21.751 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 118.2% to 148.112. Suzuki (+100.9%) outpaces the market to grow to 55.5% share vs. 52.2% so far this year. In contrast both Toyota (+70.5%) and Honda (+43%) are relatively shy yet Honda posts a higher share than year-to-date at 14.8% vs. 14.3%. Hyundai (+547.3%) continues to spectacularly gear up. Note Kia also produces locally now, reportedly selling more than Honda but doesn’t report figures to PAMA so it doesn’t appear here.
Model-wise, the Suzuki Ato (+110.6%) and Cultus (+103.2%) dominate like last month, reaching 23.1% and 13.1% share respectively vs. 22% and 11.5% year-to-date. The Toyota Yaris (+18.8%) underperforms and is stuck at #3 with just 9.3% share vs. 13.6% o far this year. Below, both the Suzuki WagonR (+129.1%) and Toyota Corolla (+124%) post fantastic gains, as do the Toyota Fortuner (+372.7%) and Hyundai Tucson (+772.7%).
