Kazakhstan July 2021: Market up 41.9%, Chevrolet Cobalt back in charge

New vehicle sales in Kazakhstan are on a roll: up another whopping 41.9% year-on-year in July to 10.668 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 53.3% to 66.946. Local producer Chevrolet (+766.7%) retains its iron fist over the Kazakh market, progressing to 29% share vs. 26.7% so far this year. Hyundai (+62.5%) also beats the market in 2nd place as does Kia (+97.7%) in third with 11.4% share vs. 7.9% YTD. Toyota (+41.1%) underperforms but remains at #4 ahead of an imploding Lada (-70.6%). Volkswagen (+94.1%), GAZ (+65%), Renault (+56.6%) and JAC (+51.8%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10. Newcomer Haval advances to a record #11 this month, with BMW (+213.2%) and Mercedes (+130.8%) also shining further down.

Over in the models ranking, the Chevrolet Cobalt (+534.7%) reclaims the top spot off the Chevrolet Nexia with the two nameplates totalling a dominant 26.3% share. The rest of the Top 5 is unchanged on June, with the Hyundai Accent (+82%) rounding out the podium ahead of the Kia Rio (+99.4%) and Toyota Camry (+67.8%). The Hyundai Sonata (+249.4%) signs a fantastic gain and is up 18 spots to #10, with the GAZ Gazelle (+66.1%), VW Polo (+71.8%) and Kia Sportage (+59.3%) also sporting larger upticks than the market in the remainder of the Top 10. The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 has landed in Kazakhstan directly at #16, distancing fellow recent launches the Kia K5 (#17) and Chevrolet Equinox (#18).
