Pakistan June 2021: Suzuki Cultus scores first ever win in market up 57.1%

The Suzuki Cultus is the best-selling car in Pakistan in June.

According to data released by PAMA, sales of new locally-made light vehicles in Pakistan soar 57.1% year-on-year in June to 13.750 units, leading to a year-to-date talky up 128.1% to 101.443. This is a fair representation of the total Pakistani market as very high taxes make new imports negligible. Note sales remain well below its pre-pandemic level of June 2019 at -21.7% vs. 17.561 units then. Suzuki (+30.5%) is in difficulty this month and drops to 37.1% share vs. 49.4% so far this year, with all other manufacturers lodging shares superior to their YTD levels. Toyota (+79.2%) is up to 33% vs. 30.7%, Honda (+65%) is at 24% vs. 15.4% and Hyundai (+959.6%) is at 4.4% vs. 4%.

We have a new leader in the models ranking: the Suzuki Cultus (+173.5%) surges to 16.5% share vs. 9.9% year-to-date to score its first ever win in Pakistan. It distances the Toyota Yaris (+61.7%) and Corolla (+117.8%) with the Honda Civic (+53.7%) estimated to rank #4. Leader last month and year-to-date, the Suzuki Alto falls -26.6% to 5th place overall for the month. The Toyota Fortuner (+428.2%) and Honda BR-V (+192.1%) also score stunning gains.
