Kazakhstan June 2021: Chevrolet Nexia and Cobalt dominate market up 21.2%
The Chevrolet Cobalt ranks #2 in Kazakhstan in June.
New vehicle sales in Kazakhstan progress 21.2% year-on-year in June to 12.024 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally up 50.9% to 54.618. This is especially remarkable given June 2020 volumes were already up 55.1% on the year prior. Chevrolet (+913.3%), now a local manufacturer, is firmly in control of the brands charts albeit with 25.3% share vs. 26.2% so far this year. Once again Hyundai (-3.2%) underperforms at 16.2% vs. 21.7% YTD but Kia (+125.8%) impresses in third place above Toyota (+34.3%) also solid. Lada (-59.5%) implodes at #5 just as the entire remainder of the Top 10 outpaces the market: Volkswagen (+119.4%), JAC (+46.1%), GAZ (+40.6%), Renault (+40.2%) and Nissan (+27%) are all in great shape. Just outside the Top 10, Subaru (+303.5%) also shines while newcomer Haval repeats at a best-ever 12th place.
Over in the models ranking, the Chevrolet Nexia repeats in pole position above the Chevrolet Cobalt (+574.3%), these two nameplates being the only ones selling over 1.000 units this month. Below, the Hyundai Accent (+192.8%) and Kia Rio (+174.4%) both surge ahead while the Toyota Camry (+44%) is weaker but still beats the market to round out the Top 5. The Toyota RAV4 (+121.2%) and GAZ Gazelle (+41%) also make themselves noticed in the remainder of the Top 10. In the new models aisle, below the Nexia we find the Kia K5 (#18), JAC J7 (#20), Chevrolet Equinox (#26) and Lada Niva (#29) which is the facelift of the vehicle formerly known as Chevrolet Niva, not to be confused with the Lada 4×4 aka Niva Legend which dates back to 1977.
