Uruguay May 2021: Fiat reclaims top spot in market up 194.5%
Fiat is the best-selling carmaker in Uruguay in May.
The Uruguayan new light vehicle market is up 194.5% year-on-year in May to 4.529 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 87.3% to 20.461. This is the largest 5-month volume in Uruguay since 2017 (21.256). This month Fiat (+323.8%) is up five spots on April to reclaim the top spot it holds year-to-date, yet with 14.1% share it is still down vs. the 15.8% it holds year-to-date. Suzuki (+125.9%) is toppled from the top spot and ends the month at #2 but remains above its year-to-date level at 13.3% vs. 12.7%. Hyundai (+662.7%) is up two spots on last month to land on the third step of the podium ahead of Volkswagen (+122.9%) and Renault (+231.6%). Chevrolet (+494.8%) is up 6-fold year-on-year but drops four ranks on April to #6, losing the #2 YTD spot to Suzuki as a result. Below, Nissan (+190.8%), Citroen (+133.3%), Toyota (+128.4%) and Peugeot (+115.5%) underwhelm.
