Pakistan May 2021: Suzuki up to 52.9% share in market down -12.3% on two years ago

The Suzuki Cultus holds 11.6% of the Pakistani market in May.

According to local manufacturers association PAMA, sales of new locally produced light vehicles in Pakistan bounce back up 246.7% year-on-year in May to 15.696 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 145.5% to 87.693. Note May 2021 volumes remain down on the pre-pandemic levels of two years ago in May 2019 at -12.3% for the month (17.891) and -14.6% year-to-date (102.643). Suzuki (+130.8%) trails the market but is up to 52.9% share vs. 51.3% so far this year. Toyota (+754.8%) holds 29.8% share vs. 30.3% and Honda (+513.8%) holds 12.7% vs. 14%. Hyundai (+1453.7%) progresses to 4.1% vs. 3.9%. Model-wise, the Suzuki Alto (+158.8%) is unstoppable at #1 ahead of the Toyota Yaris (+1156.9%) celebrating one year in market, both models however at lower market shares than year-to-date. The Suzuki Cultus (+97.4%) advances to 11.6% vs. 8.8% year-to-date while the Toyota Corolla (+415%) resists at 9.6% and the Suzuki WagonR (+286.3%) is strong at 9.5% vs. 7.2% in 2021 so far.
