New car sales in the Netherlands bounce back up 55.6% year-on-year in April to 23.846 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -11.7% to 104.497. Kia (+63.2%) takes the lead of the brands ranking, toppling Volkswagen (+19.6%) while Peugeot (+54%) knocks Toyota (+62.7%) out of the podium. Volvo (+258.8%), Mercedes (+106.9%) and Skoda (+90.6%) also frankly outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10 while BMW (+54.6%) and Ford (+42.3%) fall short and Renault (+9.4%) underperforms. Suzuki (+115.2%), Mitsubishi (+108.1%), Mazda (+78.2%) and Audi (+68.1%) also shine further down. This month we welcome Chinese carmaker Lynk & Co in the ranking directly at #27 with 0.3% share.
Over in the models ranking, Kia manages a 1-2 with the Niro (+28.7%) in pole position followed by the Picanto (+118.5%). The Volvo XC40 (+758.9%) is down to #3 but remains the best-seller year-to-date with a 59 sales advantage over the Picanto. All remaining Top 8 models beat the market with the Toyota Yaris (+120.7%), Peugeot 2008 (+116.3%) and Toyota Aygo (+100.8%) growing the fastest above the Peugeot 208 (+63.8%) and Renault Captur (+58.1%). The Skoda Enyaq lands directly at #12 for its first month of sales in the Netherlands, instantly becoming the best-selling recent launch (<12 months) above the VW ID.4 (#19), Citroen C4 (#63) and Polestar 2 (#91). The Lynk & Co 01 makes its first appearance in the Dutch charts just outside the Top 100 at #101.
