Kazakhstan April 2021: Chevrolet Cobalt and Nexia top market down -48.4% on two years ago
The Chevrolet Cobalt is the best-selling vehicle in Kazakhstan in April.
New car sales in Kazakhstan bounce back up 797.6% year-on-year in April to 10.071 units on devastated year-ago volumes, leading to a year-to-date tally up 80.5% to 34.232. However April 2021 volumes remain significantly down on two years ago at -48.4% vs. April 2019 (19.508). New local producer Chevrolet (+4552.6%) confirms it is now the favourite here with a splendid 31.7% share vs. 26.1% so far this year. The Kazakh market is one of the least fragmented in the world, with the Top 3 brands holding almost 3/4 of the market: Hyundai (+2851.3%) is up to 27.5% vs. 25.3% year-to-date and Toyota (+450.4%) is up to 14.7% vs. 12.2%. Volkswagen (+8500%), Kia (+2617.9%), Nissan (+1612.5%) and JAC (+1192.9%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10. Notice also Haval making its first appearance in the Kazakh charts directly at #16 with 1% share.
Model-wise, Chevrolet places two nameplates on top like last month: the Cobalt is the best-seller overall with 13.5% share vs. 12.6% so far this year, with the Nexia in 2nd place at a round 10% vs. 10.8% year-to-date. In fact the podium is unchanged on last month and year-to-date with the Hyundai Accent (+8116.7%) in third position. The Hyundai Santa Fe (+8742.9%) leaps up 9 spots on March to land at #4, distancing the Kia Rio (+2745%). The Hyundai Creta (+2120%) also outpaces the market in the remainder of the Top 10 while the VW Polo goes from no sale in April 2020 to 271 and #10 this month.
