Ukraine February 2021: Skoda (+25.5%), Volkswagen (+15.2%) defy market off -4.7%

The Ukrainian new car market slows down its fall in February to -4.7% year-on-year at 6.336 units, leading to a year-to-date tally off -14% to 12.072. Toyota (-19%) remains the most popular carmaker in the country but for just 19 sales above Renault (-29.4%). Skoda (+25.5%) braves the negative conditions to cement its third place at 7.3% share, distancing Kia (-12.9%), Hyundai (-5.9%) and Nissan (-14.7%) all underperforming. Volkswagen (+15.2%) and Ford (+6.2%) sign the only two additional year-on-year gains in the Top 10. Further down, Lada (+138.5%), Audi (+50%), Lexus (+47%), BMW (+45.4%), Chery (+26%) and Peugeot (+6.1%) all shine.
Model-wise, the Toyota RAV4 (-16.2%) retains the top spot above the Renault Duster (-10.3%) and Kia Sportage (-10.2%), replicating the same podium 100% SUV as last month. The Renault Sandero (-21.5%) leaps back up four spots on January to #4 but drops significantly year-on-year whereas the VW Touareg (+581.5%), Nissan Qashqai (+100%) and Ford Kuga (+60.3%) all score spectacular year-on-year gains in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, notice the Skoda Karoq (+1433.3%), Toyota Land Cruiser (+650%), Lexus RX (+102.4%), Peugeot 301 (+82.1%), Audi Q8 (+74.4%) and Toyota Corolla (+73.3%) all in outstanding shape.
