New Caledonia (France) February 2021: Dongfeng Joyear X5 up to #4, sales down -3.6%

In February new car sales in New Caledonia, a French overseas archipelago located north-east of Australia, drop -3.6% year-on-year to 566, leading to a year-to-date tally down -9.5% to 1.062. Dacia (+33.9%) takes control of the brands ranking, toppling traditional leader Toyota (-25%), in difficulty this month. Ford (+25%) advances to third place overall above Renault (-13%) and Hyundai (+12.2%). Subaru (+38.5%) and Citroen (+28.6%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10, while Chinese carmaker Dongfeng is up 13 spots on January to crack the Top 10 at #8 with 3.7% share. Model-wise, the Dacia Duster (+56.3%) is easily the best-seller with 8.8% share above the Toyota Hilux (+16.1%) and the new Hyundai Grand i10. But the big news is the arrival in 4th place overall of the Dongfeng Joyear X5, up 24 spots on January and ahead of the Dacia Sandero (-26.1%) and new Ford Puma. The Peugeot Partner (+266.7%), Dacia Logan (+175%) and Citroen C3 (+33.3%) also impress further down.
