New car sales in Croatia slow down their fall in February at -4.2% year-on-year to 3.439 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -13% to 6.354. Volkswagen (-0.4%) is stable and dominant at 15.6% share while Skoda (-29.1%) is penalised by a particularly high year-ago volume but its share is consistent with last month at 13.1%. Fiat (+31.1%) and Hyundai (+30.7%) follow and score the largest gains in the Top 15. Peugeot (+12%) and Kia (+4.3%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 but Toyota (-15.9%) and Suzuki (-12.4%) struggle. Further down, notice Jeep (+1183.3%), Land Rover (+300%) Mazda (+60.8%) and Porsche (+20%) posting extravagant lifts.
Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (-33.6%) reclaims the top spot both for February and YTD despite a steep fall. After the Fiat 500 that led the charts in January, this time the Fiat Panda (+1691.7%) posts a surreal gain to land in 2nd place just 12 sales below the Octavia. Such wild variations can only be explained by a fleet order. The VW T-Roc (+72.4%) and Dacia Duster (+89%) both score outstanding results to round out the Top 4. The Hyundai Tucson (+270.6%) does even better as the outgoing generation gets discounted and the new one starts to trickle in, up from outside the January Top 20 directly into 5th place. The Renault Clio (+75.4%) is back inside the Top 10 at #6, with the VW Tiguan (+68.3%) also strong. The Jeep Compass (+2400%) is another candidate for a fleet sales boost as it shoots up into the Top 10 at #9.
