Luxembourg September 2020: Dacia (+514.3%) breaks into Top 5, Mercedes A-Class topples VW Golf for #1 YTD
Dacia sales are up 6-fold year-on-year in Luxembourg in September.
Now with a Top 10 models ranking.
The August 2020 post has now been updated with the Top 10 YTD models.
The Luxembourg new car market posts a second year-on-year surge in the past three months in September with sales up a fantastic 23.1% to 4.073, leading to a year-to-date tally down -20.9% to 34.046. Mercedes (+25.1%) just outpaces the market to snap its first pole position in almost a year (since October 2019) and keeps the YTD leader Volkswagen (+19.7%) well at bay at 12.7% share vs. 10.4%. August leader BMW (+23.1%) exactly matches the market evolution but drops to #3 ahead of a resurgent Audi (+63.1%). But the hero of the month is Dacia (+514.3%) up a surreal 6-fold on its year-ago volume, lifting 18 spots to break into the Top 5 for what we at BSCB believe is the very first time in Luxembourg, our records showing a previous best of #10 hit just last July. Fiat (+75%), Skoda (+34.3%) and Hyundai (+33%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10. Polestar lands at #47 with its first Luxembourg sale.
Model-wise, the Mercedes A-Class (-0.7%) manages to stay almost immobile and claims the September top spot as well as the YTD pole position off the VW Golf, a momentous event in Luxembourg. The Audi Q3 (+300%) is up 4-fold on a year ago to remain at the 4th place its holds YTD, while the Mercedes GLC (+147.1%) and Renault Clio round round the Top 5.
