China LCV July 2020: Great Wall (+155.7%) shows outstanding health in soaring market (+53%)

Great Wall sales surge 155.9% year-on-year in July.

The Light Commercial Vehicle market continues to strive in China as local government intends to get the economy back on track post-pandemic by propping up infrastructure projects and making it easier for small “street businesses” to operate in city centres, as well as benefitting from a resurgent logistics segment and booming e-commerce. LMC Automotive data shows July sales up a fantastic 53% year-on-year to a record 323.838 units and year-to-date volumes up 6.8% to 1.941.657. Wuling (+41.4%), Foton (+53.4%), Dongfeng (+47.6%) and Changan (+47.9%) wild onto the top 4 spots like in June and YTD but all trail the market. In contrast Great Wall pickups (+155.9%) continues to fly off dealerships as do CNHTC light trucks (371%) and Maxus vans (+101.4%). The Wuling Mini Truck (+78.9%) is undisturbed atop the models charts, distancing the Foton Light Truck (+61.4%) and Dongfeng Light Truck (+86%).
