Greece June 2020: Peugeot 308 up 5-fold to land on podium in reeling market (-37.2%)

The Peugeot 308 is the third best-selling vehicle in Greece in June.

The Greek new car market is off -37.2% year-on-year in June to 8.249 units, posting one of the worst results in Europe, with only Portugal (-56.2%) and Croatia (-49.6%) falling harder so far. The year-to-date tally now stands at 36.570, down -44.2% over the same period in 2019. Toyota (-1.5%) brilliantly stabilises its sales to 12.5% share above Peugeot (-27.6%) and Volkswagen (-25.7%) also but to a lesser extent outpacing the market. BMW (+11.2%) signs the only year-on-year gain in the Top 10 but the rest of the top-selling brands are in perdition, notably Suzuki (-52.7%), Opel (-48.8%) and Citroen (-46%). Below, Mazda (371.4%), Jeep (+57.1%) and Ford (+3.2%) stand out with upticks but Fiat (-80.7%), Seat (-76.9%) and Renault (-70.1%) crumble.

Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Yaris (+24.2%) easily keeps the lead ahead of the Nissan Qashqai (+18.7%) while the Peugeot 308 (+422.8%) is up 5-fold on its June 2019 volume and 79 spots on May to land at #3, ensuring the entire podium is in positive. The VW T-Cross (+138.9%), Peugeot 3008 (+44.7%) and Toyota C-HR (+28.1%) also secure spectacular gains in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas the Peugeot 208 (-58.5%), VW Polo (-55.7%), Opel Corsa (-49.8%) and Citroen C3 (-48.8%) implode. The Skoda Kamiq (#15) tops recent launches above the Ford Puma (#35), Skoda Scala (#39) and Mercedes GLB (#50).

Previous month: Greece May 2020: Mercedes (-46.5%), Toyota (-49.8%) resist in market down -67.5%

One year ago: Greece June 2019: Fiat and Panda snap lead, YTD market at highest since 2010
