Belgium June 2020: VW (+21.6%), Ford (+35.2%) lead charge in stabilised market (-1.8%)
Volkswagen sales surge 21.6% year-on-year in Belgium in June.

Although Belgium remains the country in the world with the largest Covid-19 death count per inhabitant, the pandemic is now under control and business has resumed to almost normal, illustrated by a spectacularly stabilised new car market down just -1.8% year-on-year in June at 49.141 units, to be compared with -32% in May and -90.1% in April. The year-to-date tally is now down -30.2% over H1 2019 to 216.605, a loss of almost 100.000 units. This month Volkswagen (+21.6%) skas the competitions and posts the only double-digit year-on-year gain in the Top 6 to reclaims the brands top spot it holds year-to-date at 12.1% share vs. 10.1% so far in 2020. Renault (-25.4%) is up two spots on May to #2 despite markedly underperforming with the steepest fall in the Top 10. Peugeot (-4.7%) rounds out the podium above Mercedes (-4%), BMW (+9%) and Audi (+4.3%). Ford (+35.2%), Kia (+24.6%), Dacia (+22.4%), Skoda (+16.3%) and Fiat (+13.5%) impress in the remainder of the Top 20 while further down Aston Martin (+500%), Ferrari (+69.2%), Lamborghini (+66.7%), Ssangyong (+44.3%), Bentley (+37.5%), Lotus (+25%), Subaru (+25%) and Porsche (+16% stand out. Notice also Bugatti selling its first unit in Belgium since November 2017. The Renault Clio (+43.9%) snaps the top spot like it does all across Europe, distancing the VW Golf (+3.5%) and a stunning Volvo XC40 at #3, earning a spot in the YTD Top 10 in the process directly at #5.
