Kazakhstan May 2020: Ravon Nexia R3 tops market rallying back up 18.7%

First win since January 2018 for the Ravon Nexia R3.

After stalling -80.5% in April, the Kazakh new vehicle market spectacularly returns to growth in May at +18.7% year-on-year and 7.315 registrations, completing the only true V-shaped recovery in the world (Chinese sales were in negative for three months). The year-to-date tally also tilts back into positive at +2.3% and 26.281 units. Lada (+33.9%) surges to its highest share since March 2019 at 23.3% and returns to the top spot it holds YTD, distancing Hyundai (+34.4%) up to a record 22% share, also hit last November. Ravon (+1136.9%) confirms it is back on track and rallies back up 10 spots on last month to #3 and 14.2% of the market, its highest share since January 2018. Leader last month, Toyota (-36.8%) sinks to #4 in May while Kia (+49.4%) rounds out the Top 5. No other Top 10 carmaker outpaces the market, with Volkswagen (-33.2%) and GAZ (-30.1%) hit the hardest.

Model-wise, the Ravon Nexia R3 (+1098.8%) rushes up 18 spots on April to spectacularly take the overall lead with a mammoth 13.8% share after climbing to #2 last September, October, January and February. It is the first time it (or any other Ravon model for  that matter) holds the Kazakh pole position since January 2018, smashing its market share record in the process. The Lada Granta (+98.5%) remains at #2 and holds onto the YTD top spot for a little over 100 sales, while the Hyundai Tucson (+37.5%) leaps up 8 spots on last month to step onto the podium. The Kia Rio (+206.1%) and Lada Vesta (+21%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 while the Renault Arkana tops recent launches at #31.
