Following a trend we’ve already observed in the Netherlands and Finland, the Danish new car market goes against the European grain and actually fares worst in May at -40.1% to 11.432 units than it did in April (-37%). The year-to-date tally is now down -30.6% to 70.491. Brand0wise, Volkswagen (-48.2%) and Peugeot (-28.2%) follow ver different trajectories but remain on top, joined by Citroen (-27%) on the podium. Kia (+3.9%) manages the only year-on-year gain in the Top 10 and Top 20, while Hyundai (-17.1%) and Renault (-34.3%) also resist better than the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, Mini (+50%) and Land Rover (+30%) stand out with tremendous gains while MG lands inside the Top 30.

Over in the models ranking, the Citroen C3 (-40.1%) scores its second ever Danish monthly win after last October, cementing its #2 spot year-to-date. It distances the Renault Clio (-28.7%) and VW Polo (-61.3%) while at #4 the Citroen C1 (+25.1%) secures with the Kia Ceed (+16.3%) the only two year-on-year gains in the Top 10. Leader in April, the Peugeot 208 (-41.2%) drops to #5 but remains #1 YTD. The Kia Xceed (#45) is the best-selling recent launch ahead of the Skoda Kamiq (#47), Ford Puma (#70), Mazda CX-30 (#71) and Mercedes GLB (#75).
