Pakistan April 2020: Market all but stops to just 39 sales (-99.9%)
Pakistan was under a national lockdown for the whole of April and has started easing it after Prime Minister Imran Khan said the government was unable to financially help all those who lost their job. This comes as COVID-19 cases surged in the past month, going from 5.374 when we published the March 2020 update to 34.336 at the time of writing, making Pakistan one of the 20 countries in the world most affected by the coronavirus. Similarly to neighbour India, the Pakistani automotive industry has all but stopped in April with sales of locally-made light vehicles down a ghastly -99.9% to just 39 sales, pulling the year-to-date volume down -63.2% to 31.195. No passenger cars and no SUVs were sold in April, with only 3 pickups present in the sales charts: the newly added Hyundai Porter with 22 sales, the Isuzu D-Max with 11 and the JAC X200 with 6.
