Oman Q1 2020: Nissan (+76.7%) helps keep market drop to just -2.8%
Nissan leaps to 26.7% share of the Omani market in 2020.
New car sales in Oman only edge down -2.8% year-on-year over the First Quarter of 2020 to 23.874 registrations. Brand leader Toyota (-12.7%) falls much faster but remains out-of-touch at 46.6% share vs. 51.8% a year ago. In contrast, Nissan (+76.7%) takes off from 14.7% share over Q1 2019 to 26.7% this year, leaving Lexus (-15.7%), Kia (+10.6%) and Hyundai (-56%) all below 5% share. MG (+488.1%) leaps 12 spots year-on-year to #8, with Honda (+202.8%), Dodge (+68.8%), Suzuki (+19.7%) and GMC (+19%) also displaying outstanding health.
Over in the models ranking, the Nissan Sunny (+505.3%) is up 6-fold year-on-year to easily snap the pole position with 17.2% share, while the Toyota Hilux (-6.7%) remains in 2nd place but the Toyota Land Cruiser (-24.8%) drops two spots to #3. The Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (-19.7%) is down one to #4 and the Nissan Sentra (+14.8%) up one to #5. Only the Toyota Camry (+6.7%) and Yaris (+0.9%) also manage a year-on-year gain in the Top 10. The Nissan Kicks (+579.2%), Hyundai Creta (+265.2%) and Honda Accord (+219.7%) shine further down, while the MG 5 (#25), MG RX8 (#43), MG HS (#50) and Kia Pegas (#54) top recent launches.
