After roaring up 44.9% in 2019, new light vehicle sales in Iraq tumble down -15.4% year-on-year over the First Quarter of 2020 to 15.567 units. Kia (-30.5%) remains the most popular brand in the market but it is now under intense heat by Toyota (+64%) surging up two spots to #2 and 25.6% share vs. #4 and 13.2% a year ago. Hyundai (-32.5%) and Mitsubishi (-51.6%) are sideswiped to #3 and #4 respectively, but below, Nissan (+172.5%), Jeep (+129.2%) and Dodge (+121.9%) post fantastic gains just as Changan, new for 2020, lands directly in 7th place with 1.5% share.
The Kia Frontier pickup (-14.6%) remains the best-selling vehicle in the country, this time distancing the Toyota Hilux (+43.7%) and Mitsubishi L200 (-51.3%) – meaning the Iraqi podium is 100% pickup so far in 2020.
