Bangladesh 2019: Toyota Corolla reigns supreme

There is still no official new car sales data for Bangladesh, and we last updated this market in 2012 so a refresh is overdue. According to data released by OICA and published on BSCB, 49.000 new vehicles found a buyer in Bangladesh in 2019, up 5.4% year-on-year. Of these however, only 3.000 are passenger cars, a 9% year-on-year uptick. The large majority of passenger cars hitting Bengali roads are used imports from Japan. Even though this isn’t official info, thanks to local outlet Businessdaily24.com we can get a better idea of the most popular cars in Bangladesh, this ranking including used cars. The best-seller isn’t a surprise, it’s the Toyota Corolla like in Pakistan, and it is estimated to also top the new car charts. The Toyota Noah comes in 2nd place, ahead of the Mitsubishi Pajero, Toyota Allion and Nissan Pulsar. The Toyota Axio, Probox, Mitsubishi Colt, Honda Airwave and Toyota Belta round out the Top 10.
