Ukraine January 2020: Toyota and RAV4 take control in soaring market (+34.5%)
The Toyota RAV4 is the best-selling vehicle in Ukraine in January.
The Ukrainian new car market shoots up 34.5% year-on-year in January to 7.072 units. Toyota (+91%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year to easily step up to the brands pole position for the first time since last June with 17.1% share vs. 14.2% over the FY2019 and 12% in January 2019. Renault (+31.2%) is knocked down to #2 but remains at a strong 14.9% vs. 16.5% over FY2019. Nissan (+23.9%) is up 4 spots on December to step onto the last spot on the podium, distancing Skoda (+36.7%) and Kia (+11.8%). Peugeot (+144.4%) and Mercedes (+69.9%) also comfortably outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10, while further down Opel (+1085.7%), Haval (+650%), Citroen (+159.5%), Ford (+84.4%) and Chery (+70.6%) post some of the most spectacular gains.
Model-wise, the Toyota RAV4 (+489.7%) multiplies its January 2019 sales by 6 thanks to the new model, stepping up 3 spots on December to snap the overall pole position for the first time since last May. The Renault Duster (+34.3%) and Kia Sportage (+61.4%) complete a podium 100% SUV, with the Skoda Octavia (+156.4%) and Toyota Prado (+219.3%) in tow. The Renault Sandero (+107%) and Nissan X-Trail (+61%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10, while the VW T-Roc (#36) and Opel Grandland X (#44) topping recent launches.
