Taiwan February 2020: Toyota RAV4 reigns supreme in market up 39.2%
The Toyota RAV4 signs a 6th win in the past 7 months in Taiwan.
New car sales in Taiwan bounce back up 39.2% year-on-year in February to 27.350 units as February 2019 volumes were hampered by the Lunar New Year holiday which fell in January this year. As a result, the year-to-date tally is now up 4.7% to 66.767 units. Toyota (+71.5%) and Mitsubishi/CMC (+79%) almost double the market growth rate to cement their leading positions in the brands ranking at 27.8% and 11.6% share respectively. Below, Nissan/Infiniti (+22.5%), Mercedes (+28.5%) and Honda (+31.4%) all under-perform but Lexus (+89.6%), BMW (+61.4%) and Ford (+56.3%) all shine.
Model-wise, the Toyota RAV4 (+720.6%) manages a 6th win in the past 7 months, easily outselling the country’s traditional leader the Toyota Corolla (+71.1%) by almost 600 units. The CMC Veryca (+25.5%) is back up 3 spots on January to #3, distancing the Nissan Kicks (+30.4%) and Ford Focus (+89.5%). The Honda HR-V (+70.5%), CR-V (+48.8%) and Mitsubishi Delica (+41.4%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10, with the Mercedes GLC (+107%) is outstanding shape at #12. The Toyota Hilux (#21) and Mazda CX-30 (#24) top recent launches (<12 months) just as the Luxgen URX already drops 13 spots on last month to #33.
