Slovenia February 2020: Fiat (+29.4%), Peugeot (+20.5%), VW (+19.8%) defy market down -10.2%
The Fiat Tipo ranks #6 overall in Slovenia in February.
The Slovenian new car market is down -10.2% year-on-year in February to 5.550 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -9.2% to 11.765. Volkswagen (+19.8%) continues to blissfully ignore the depressed context, soaring to 19% share vs. 18.4% so far this year. Renault (-19.6%) drops twice as fast as the market but the remainder of the Top 6 is strikingly and entirely in positive, with Fiat (+29.4%), Peugeot (+20.5%) and Skoda (+12.5%) posting the largest gains and Hyundai (+2.3%) also solid. Further down inside the Top 12 however, Opel (-39.8%), Dacia (-33.2%), Citroen (-25.7%) and Kia (-19.9%) however justify the overall market fall.
Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+25.7%) flamboyantly takes the lead of the February sales charts, toppling the Renault Clio (-24.4%) just as the VW T-Cross climbs back onto the podium for the first time since last September. Volkswagen actually places 3 nameplates in the Top 5 with the Tiguan (+47.8%) and Golf (-16.6%) in tow. The Fiat Tipo (+1241.7%) is up 28 spots on January to land at #6 and the Skoda Kamiq breaks into the Slovenian Top 10 for the first time at #8.
