The Mitsubishi L200 is the #1 vehicle in Ivory Coast so far in 2020.

We are now able to share with you more frequent updates for the Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire) market. Over the first two months of 2020, the Ivorian market is up 6.6% year-on-year to 2.397 registrations including medium and heavy commercial vehicles. As we anticipated in our FY2019 update, Suzuki (+38.1%) spectacularly takes control of the brands ranking, improving to 16.6% share vs. just 13.2% for Toyota (-21.9%) in total perdition. Suzuki is evolving 2.5 percentage points of share above its FY2019 level whereas Toyota is two points lower… Renault (-7.9%) manages to stay in the third position it held over FY2019 for just two units above Mitsubishi (-8.9%), while Hyundai (+1.3%) overtakes Nissan (-4.8%) to break into the Top 56. Sinotruk (+123.8%) shoots up to #8 above Ford (+50%) and Peugeot (+21.2%) all very dynamic at the tail end of the Top 10. Just below, Great Wall (+23.7%) and Haval (#12) also impress. All in all, Chinese manufacturers are the big winners with a 76.6% year-on-year surge to 325 units and 13.6% share vs. 10.3% over the FY2019.

The models ranking is completely reshuffled compared to the FY2019 order: the Mitsubishi L200 snaps the top spot with just under 6% above the Suzuki Vitara at 5.4% whereas last year’s winner the Toyota Hilux drops two spots to #3 and 4.5% vs. 6.3% over FY2019. The Mazda BT-50 is up 3 ranks to #4, making it 3 pickups in the Top 4, while the Toyota RAV4 steps up to #5. The Suzuki Alto 800 remains the best-selling passenger car in the country but leaps up to #6 whereas the Renault Duster is down 4 spots to #8. The Nissan Hardbody, Ford Ranger and Great Wall Wingle mean the Top 10 has 6 pickups. Suzuki also places the DZire at #2 and the Swift at #4 passenger car, with the Renault Kwid taking the third spot.
