The Toyota Hilux is estimated to be #1 in the Solomon Islands in 2019.
The Solomon Islands are located east of Papua New Guinea and composed of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands stretching 1.500 km (930 mi). Solomon is home to 652.857 inhabitants and has sometimes been described as an ‘unformed state’. The country’s capital, Honiara, is located on the island of Guadalcanal.
New car sales in the Solomon Islands gain 10.7% year-on-year in 2019 to 299 units, with Toyota (+5%) still the #1 brand but losing share again to 42.5%. Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Hilux (+61.8%) bounces back and can reasonably pretend at reclaiming the top spot off the Isuzu D-Max, with the Land Cruiser 70 (-5.9%) and Hiace (+20%) being Toyota’s next two best-sellers in Solomon.
