Exclusive to BSCB we can offer you today complete 2019 new car sales data for Iceland, a market imploding another harsh -31.7% to 11.728 registrations, 13.183 including light commercials. The 2 most popular carmakers Toyota (-26.1%) and Kia (-26%) both almost exactly follow to market, resulting in stable shares at 16.2% and 11.3% respectively while Volkswagen (-8%) resists very well and leaps up two spots onto the podium at #3, leapfrogging past Nissan (-27.4%) and Hyundai (-46.2%). Dacia (+10.2%) manages the only double-digit gain in the Top 20 and slices its 2018 ranking in two, going from #12 to #6 with 5.3% share. Ford (-8.6%) is the only additional Top 10 brand managing to only drop by the single-digits. Further down, Mercedes (+1.1%), Jaguar (+95.5%) and Tesla (+1366.7%) stand out just as US pickup truck maker Ram appears at #25 with 79 sales.

Outside the Top 20 in 2018, the Dacia Duster is up to #2 in 2019.

Model-wise, the Toyota RAV4 (+96.6%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year thank the new generation and its much-improved hybrid variant, snapping the annual pole position with a generous 5% share. The Dacia Duster does even better in 2nd place: it improves 5-fold to surge from outside the 2018 Top 20 directly into 2nd place as it seems to be a favourite with local car rental companies. The Mitsubishi Outlander (-46.3%) relinquishes the pole position it held in 2018 and is down to #3 above the Kia Sportage (+66.7%) and Toyota Land Cruiser (-13%) ensuring the Top 5 is 100% SUV. The VW Golf (-19.4%), Kia Ceed and Toyota Yaris (-20.1%) top the passenger car charts but the Nissan Qashqai, Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson make it 8 SUVs in the Top 11. The Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro, Sorento, Toyota Corolla and Suzuki Swift also make their entrance in the Top 20. Notice also the Ram 3500 at #53, the Jaguar i-Pace at #69, the Audi e-Tron at #76 and the Tesla Model 3 at #92.
