Syria Q3 2019: Hyundai Tucson dominates market down -21.9%
The Hyundai Tucson is the most popular vehicle in Syria so far in 2019.
The Syrian new vehicle market sinks -21.9% year-on-year over Q3 to just 2.565 registrations, in line with its YTD behaviour at -22% to 6.227 units. Only Hyundai (-27.2%) and Kia (-4.9%) still sell in the country, with the former holding 71.1% of the market over Q3 and 67.7% YTD and the latter at 28.9% and 32.3% respectively. The Hyundai Tucson (-30%) cements its domination with a mammoth 38.8% share, distancing the Hyundai Starex (+47.5%) and Kia Sorento (+26.3%), these 3 nameplates accounting for 63.1% of the Syrian market over Q3. The Kia Sportage (+475%) and Optima (+918.2%) also post significantly higher scores vs. a year ago.
