Qatar Q3 2019: Toyota Land Cruiser holds 14% share, GMC Sierra up to #7 in market up 6.7%
The GMC Sierra storms into the Qatari Top 10 thanks to the new model.
The light vehicle sales in Qatar are definitely on the mend with Q3 volumes up a sturdy 6.7% to 10.417 units leading to a year-to-date tally up 3.5% to 34.564. Toyota (+16.8%) more than doubles the market’s growth rate to reach 38.2% share vs. 36.1% so far in 2019, leaving Nissan (-7%) in the dust. Kia (+10.9%) also outpaces the market at #3 but Mitsubishi (-30.5%) struggles mightily. There are two outstanding performers in the Top 10: Hyundai (+367.6%) almost progresses 5-fold to land in 5th place and MG (+231.1%) is up 3-fold to break into the Q3 Top 10 vs. #19 over the Full Year 2018. GMC (+47.4%), Chevrolet (+18.5%) and Suzuki (+8.8%) also shine while further down, Jeep (+58.9%), Renault (+53.4%) and Ram (+32.1%) stand out. In the models ranking, the Toyota Land Cruiser (+20%) remains head and shoulders above the competition with 14% of the market, in line with the 14.4% it commands YTD. The Nissan Sunny (+125.6%) storms into 2nd place both over Q3 and YTD, distancing the Toyota Hilux (+2.1%), Nissan Patrol (-46.2%) and Toyota Prado (-12.7%). The GMC Sierra (+100.8%), Toyota Yaris (+71.2%) and Corolla (+31.9%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10.
