Ireland October 2019: Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Kona top market up 29.2%
The Hyundai Kona is up to #2 in Ireland in October.
New car sales in Ireland post their 5th year-on-year gain in the past 7 months and by far the largest at +29.2% in October to 2.182 registration, however a very slow start of the year means year-to-date volumes remain frankly in negative at -6.9% to 116.139. Even more impressive: the entire Top 5 brands outpace the market, led by Volkswagen (+36%) at 12.6% share ahead of Skoda (+30.3%), Hyundai (+102.2%), Toyota (+75.5%) and Ford (+97.8%). Only Opel (+35.1%) does the same in the remainder of the Top 10, while further down Tesla (+3200%), Seat (+184.2%), Land Rover (+91.3%), Mercedes (+64.7%) and Renault (+40%) stand out.
Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (+1400%) reclaims the top spot it holds YTD at 4.8% share vs. 3.8% so far in 2019, distancing the Hyundai Kona (+466.7%), VW Golf (+90.2%), Tiguan (+55.6%) and Ford Kuga (+228.6%). The BMW 3 Series (+260%), Skoda Kodiaq (+195%), Nissan Leaf (+74.2%) and Skoda Octavia (+71%) also outgun the market in the remainder of the Top 10. The VW T-Cross 9#25) is the best-selling recent launch above the Peugeot Rifter (#26), Tesla Model 3 (#28) and Skoda Kamiq (#52) new for the month.
