Iraq Q3 2019: Mitsubishi up 12-fold, helps market up 41.8%
Mitsubishi sales, almost solely composed of the L200, are up 1087%.
New light vehicle sales in Iraq continue to spectacularly recover with Q3 deliveries up 41.8% year-on-year to 21.052 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 59.6% to 58.992. Kia (+12.9%) continues to dominate the brands ranking at 40.7% share in Q3 which is higher than YTD (39.1%) but can’t quite match the market growth rate. On the contrary, Hyundai (+93.3%), Toyota (+43.5%) and most strikingly Mitsubishi (+1087%) all advance faster than the market, resulting in much improved market shares. Renault (+500%) and Nissan (+269.4%) also shine in the Top 10. Model-wise, the Kia Frontier (-8.9%) holds onto the top spot by the skin of its teeth, with the Kia Sorento (+42.5%) breathing on its neck just 107 units below and both the Hyundai Tucson (+146.4%) and Mitsubishi L200 (+1243.4%) posting extravagant year-on-year growth just below. The Hyundai Elantra (+74.6%) rounds up the Top 5 with the Kia Cerato (+277.3%) and Toyota Land Cruiser (+139.9%) also scoring fantastic gains in the remainder of the Top 10. The Kia Telluride (#20), Chevrolet Equinox (#23), Toyota Rush (#28), Hyundai Creta (#37) and Kia Pegas (#48) are the most popular recent launches in Iraq over the period (<12 months).
