The Danish new car market lifts 10.2% year-on-year in October to 18.368 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally up 2.8% to 191.993 units, a new record eclipsing the previous 2017 high mark of 187.232. Volkswagen (-1.1%) goes against the grain with a year-on-year drop but easily remains the #1 brand in the country with 13.8% share, distancing Toyota (+9.9%), Peugeot (+4.8%) and Citroen (+37.7%) posting the largest gain in the Top 5. Audi (+120.8%), Kia (+54%) and Suzuki (+16.3%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Model-wise, the Citroen C3 (+45.2%) jumps two spots on October to take the lead for what we understand is the first time in Denmark after ranking #2 no less than 5 times this year: in January, February, April, May and July. As a result, the C3 is now only 33 sales below the year-to-date leader, the Nissan Qashqai (+115.8%) up 3 spots on September to #3 this month. 10 units below the C3 in October, the Peugeot 208 (+18.8%) remains at #2 while the VW Polo (+42.7%) bounces back up 9 ranks to get back to #4, a spot it also holds YTD. The Toyota Yaris (-5.7%) straggles and rounds up the Top 5 while the Toyota Corolla returns to the Top 10 for the third time this year at #9.
