Hungary September 2019: Opel and Astra snap lead, Suzuki (-73.9%) outside Top 10

The Opel Astra is the best-selling vehicle in Hungary in September.

The Hungarian new car market is up 8.6% year-on-year in September to 9.655 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 10% to 115.106. Paying the price for artificially filling up on demo sales over the past couple of month (and hitting an all-time record 28.4% share in August), brand leader Suzuki (-73.9%) spectacularly slips out of the Top 10 brands in September to a famished 3.2% share vs. 17.7% so far in 2019. Instead, Opel (+65%) convincingly takes the lead of the brands charts with 12.2% share vs. 8.2% YTD, distancing Ford (+0.3%), Kia (+131.3%), Toyota (-10.3%) and Dacia (+3.2%). Volkswagen (+144%), Fiat (+93.7%), Renault (+86.9%) and Hyundai (+22.6%) also impress in the Top 10. Model-wise, the Suzuki Vitara (-88.9%) and SX4 S-Cross (-97.2%) see their sales come to an almost stop at just 52 and 15 units respectively. In contrast, the Opel Astra (+76.2%), Kia Cee’d (+304.9%) and Fiat 500 (+73.9%) compose a brand-new podium. The Ford Kuga (+9%) is up to #5, the Ford Focus (+102.3%) up to #6 and the Dacia Lodgy breaks into the Hungarian Top 10 for the first time at #10.

Previous month: Hungary August 2019: Suzuki up 408.7% to record 28.4% share
