New vehicle wholesales in Indonesia skid -11.5% year-on-year in August to just 90.443 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -13.4% to 660.720. Brand leader Toyota (-7.1%) resists better than the market, posting the best hold in the Top 5 and securing a 32% share in line with the 32.2% it commands YTD. Daihatsu (-12%) almost matches the market to climb back to #2 ahead of Honda (-19.9%), Mitsubishi (-21.1%) and Suzuki (-19.9%) all falling almost twice as fast as the market. Fuso (-2.4%), Wuling (-3.1%) and Isuzu (-9.4%) contain their loss below while Nissan (+1344.7%) scores a spectacular gain on the sole muscle of the new Livina, a rebadged Mitsubishi Xpander. Renault (+180%), BMW (+158.1%), Dongfeng (+103%), Lexus (+93.3%) and Datsun (+62.9%) also shine below but none manages over 0.7% market share.
Model-wise, the Toyota Avanza (+29.1%) continues to surf on the success of its facelifted variant to reassert its domination on the ranking, distancing the Toyota Rush (+7.7%), Honda Brio (+156.8%) and Mitsubishi Xpander (-22.6%). The Suzuki Carry Pikap (+24.1%), Daihatsu Terios (+10.6%) and Sigra (+0.4%) also manage positive results in the remainder of the Top 10, while below the Wuling Almaz (aka Baojun 530) is inside the Top 20 for the 2nd month in a row and ever and the Nissan Livina for the 2nd time in the past 3 months.
