Chile June 2019: Chevrolet (+9%) leads, only gainer in Top 13 in freefalling market (-14.4%)
Chevrolet is up 9% in a market down -14.4%.
Now with the Top 25 models.
The May 2019 article has now been updated with the Top 25 models.
The slowdown is getting worse in Chile with new light vehicle sales in decline for the 5th straight month in June, freefalling -14.4% year-on-year to 28.446 units which leads to a year-to-date volume now down -7.5% to 187.020. Chevrolet (+9%) swims upstream and delivers the only year-on-year gain among the Top 13 brands. In contrast, the remainder of the Top 6 all lose 20% or more, with Hyundai (-19.6%) the “best” performer and Kia (-21.5%), Suzuki (-25.7%), Nissan (-32.6%) and Toyota (-34%) all hitting a wall. The Chrysler Group (-0.1%), Mitsubishi (-3.5%), Peugeot (-3.8%) and Renault (-7%) manage to contain their fall, but once again it’s the Chinese that impress the most with MG (+122.5%), Dongfeng (+24.9%), the Great Wall Group (+18.2%), Maxus (+15.4%) and Changan (+11.6%) posting the only gains in the remainder of the Top 30. Below, DS (+100%), Opel (+73.5%), Mini (+28%) and Land Rover (+8.9%) also shine.
