Syria January-May 2019: Hyundai Tucson leaps to pole position in market imploding -37.1%
The Hyundai Tucson is the most popular vehicle in Syria so far this year.
Whereas most markets in the region are now on the mend, new car sales in Syria plunge -37.1% year-on-year over the first 5 months of 2019 to just 2.989 units. Hyundai (-16.7%) consolidates the #1 brands ranking it snapped over the Full Year 2018 ahead of sister brand Kia (-55.7%) while Nissan (-93.7%) falls into oblivion. The Hyundai Tucson (+36%) and H1 (+38.6%) take control of the Syrian models ranking, dislodging the Kia Cerato (-32.5%) whereas last year’s leader the Hyundai Elantra hasn’t sold one unit so far in 2019. The Hyundai Santa Fe (+83.6%) and Kia Optima (+14.5%) also swim upstream just as the Kia Rio (#8) and Hyundai Accent (#10) land in the Top 10.
