Uruguay April 2019: Peugeot (+56.3%), Dongfeng (+280%) stun in market down -23.1%
Dongfeng breaks into the Uruguayan Top 10 brands for the first time in history.
No improvement at the horizon for depressed new car sales in Uruguay down another devastating -23.1% year-on-year in April to 2.954 units which leads to a YTD tally down -21.2% to 12.207. Volkswagen (-32.3%) edges past Renault (-19.6%) for the overall top spot by just 9 units but the French carmaker retains the YTD pole position by far at 16% share vs. 11.5% for VW. Peugeot (+56.3%) goes completely against the grain with a fantastic gain in 5th place while Dongfeng (+280%) multiplies its sales by 4 year-on-year to break into the Uruguayan Top 10 for the first time in history at #10, however that doesn’t really help Chinese sales as a whole down -21.1% to 7.6% share this month and -20.9% so far in 2019 to 8.4%. Toyota (-5.8%) and Suzuki (-8.5%) also resist well in the Top 10.
