Malaysia February 2019: Proton (+37%), Toyota (+18.4%) shine in market down 1.8%
Proton posts the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 15 at +37%.
New vehicle sales in Malaysia edge down 1.8% year-on-year in February to 39.838 units, yet the year-to-date volume remains in positive at +3.7% to 88.288. Market leader Perodua (+0.7%) once again outperforms the market to a strong 43.3% share, widening the gap with #2 Honda (-14.3%) in difficulty. Proton (+37%) confirms it is on the mend, producing the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 15 after doing so in the Top 12 last month. Toyota (+18.4%) recovers from a paltry January result, but Mercedes (-50,6%), Mazda (-31.4%), Mitsubishi (-26.2%) and Nissan (-14.9%) are all in dire straits.
