Reunion (France) Full Year 2018: Renault Clio topples Peugeot 208 in market up 4.2%

The Renault Clio now outsells its archenemy the Peugeot 208 in Reunion.

The new light vehicle market is up a sturdy 5.9% to 28.189 passenger cars, up 4.2% to 32.349 including light commercials in the Réunion Island, an overseas French territory located East of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean and home of 800,000 inhabitants. Peugeot (+7.1%) cements its lead in the PC ranking with 20.6% share vs. 16.6% for Renault (-0.6%). Citroen (+31.6%) sees its share gain two percentage points vs. 2017 to 10.3% ahead of Dacia (+6.9%), Hyundai (+2.7%), Volkswagen (+11.6%) and Toyota (+16.1%). Suzuki (+31%), Ford (+18.7%) and Skoda (+17.5%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 20.

Model-wise, the Renault Clio has finally managed to topple the Peugeot 208 to rank #1 with 7.9% share vs. 7% for its archenemy. The Renault Captur edges ahead of the Citroen C3 and Dacia Sandero to snap the third step of the podium, with the 3 nameplates fitting in less than 60 sales. Dacia also places the Duster at #8, and unlike in metropolitan France, there are two foreigners in the Top 10: the VW Polo and Toyota Yaris.
