Reunion (France) Full Year 2018: Renault Clio topples Peugeot 208 in market up 4.2%

The Renault Clio now outsells its archenemy the Peugeot 208 in Reunion.

The new light vehicle market is up a sturdy 4.2% to 32.349 registrations including light commercials in the Réunion Island, an overseas French territory located East of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean and home of 800,000 inhabitants. Note these figures aren’t included in the France data. Renault (+3.2%) remains the most popular carmaker here above Peugeot (+2.7%) and Citroen (+12.2%) but when looking at passenger cars only it’s Peugeot that remains on top at 4.835 sales (+21.7%). Below Dacia (+6%) improving its share to 6.9%, Volkswagen (+10.5%) overtakes Hyundai (+2.4%) to round up the Top 5 while Toyota (+14.8%) records the largest gain in the Top 10 to step above Ford (-8.6%) at #7, with Kia (+7.4%) also strong at #9. Model-wise, the Renault Clio has finally managed to topple the Peugeot 208 to rank #1 with 8.5% share vs. 7.6% for its archenemy. The Renault Captur edges ahead of the Citroen C3 and Dacia Sandero to snap the third step of the podium, with the 3 nameplates fitting in less than 60 sales. Dacia also places the Duster at #8, and unlike in metropolitan France, there are two foreigners in the Top 10: the VW Polo and Toyota Yaris.
