Poland February 2019: Dacia Duster (+118.1%) shoots up to record #4 in market up 4.4%
The Dacia Duster hits a new ranking record in Poland this month.
New light vehicle sales in Poland gain 4.4% in February to 48.940 units including light commercials, leading to a YTD tally up 2.4% to 100.248. Brand leader Skoda (-0.8%) edges down but remains on top at 11.6% share, distancing Toyota (-8.6%), Volkswagen (+0.3%) and Ford (-1%) all also underperforming. Opel (+9.4%) is by far the largest gainer in the Top 5 but just below, Dacia (+43.2%), Renault (+17.3%), Mercedes (+16.3%) and Kia (+10%) do even better just as Hyundai (+9%), Fiat (+8.7%) and Peugeot (+7%) also post strong scores.
Model-wise, the Skoda Fabia (+9.5%) finishes in front for the third time in the past 6 months after last September and October, driving past last year’s leader the Skoda Octavia (-17.1%) in great difficulty this month but retaining the YTD crown for now. The Toyota Yaris (+2.2%) is down one spot on last month to #3, while the Dacia Duster (+118.1%) more than doubles its sales year-on-year and lifts up 12 spots on January to land at #4 overall, a new Polish ranking record for the low-cost SUV eclipsing the #5 it hit last June. The Renault Clio (+41.5%), Fiat Tipo (+24.5%), Ford Focus (+18.8%) and Toyota Auris (+13.6%) also stand out in the Top 10 with double-digit gains. Below, the VW Polo (#23), Skoda Kodiaq (#31), Karoq (#33) and BMW 5 Series (#42) make themselves noticed.
