New car registrations in Lithuania shoot up a fantastic 25.4% year-on-year in 2018 to 32.447 units, making it the most dynamic market in the whole of Europe, no less. However keep in mind an estimated 20 to 30% of all new cars registered in Lithuania are immediately re-exported to other parts of the European Union due to their comparatively low selling price here. The Fiat 500 (+65.4%) manages to frankly outpace the overall growth to improve its share further to an out-of-this-world 17.8%, snapping a 7th consecutive annual win in Lithuania (no interruption since 2012). Like last year, Fiat monopolises the Top 2 but this time it’s the Tipo (+127.7%) that ranks 2nd whereas the 500X (-2%) lost its podium ranking at the last minute to the Skoda Octavia (+17.2%). The Toyota C-HR (+110.4%) brilliantly breaks into the annual Top 5, with the Toyota RAV4 (+44.3%) and Auris (+26.8%) also advancing faster than the market. Uncharacteristically given its outstanding success in most of Europe, the VW Tiguan gets knocked out of the Top 10 for 2018.
