Georgia Full Year 2018: Toyota Prado, Hilux and RAV4 top market up 17.4%

The Toyota Prado is the most popular nameplate in Georgia in 2018.

The central Asian market of Georgia is a new addition to BSCB since last year and we are the only media reporting on its new light vehicle sales. In 2018, sales in the country are up a very robust 17.4% year-on-year to 4.073 units. Toyota (+14.5%) remains ultra-dominant even though it sees its share thaw one percentage point from 39.8% to 38.8%. Skoda (+65.7%) leaps up 3 spots to land in 2nd place with 8.5% share, overtaking Hyundai (+9.5%), Ford (+13.8%) and Mercedes (+0.5%). Kia spectacularly triples its sales year-on-year to jump from #13 to #6 and 4.9% share, with Fiat (+35%) and Mitsubishi (+25.7%) also vastly outpacing the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, Citroen (+3000%), Foton (+266.7%), Lexus (+120.5%), Jaguar (+75%) and Porsche (+41%) also shine further down.

Although the Georgian models podium remains 100% Toyota, it is completely reshuffled this year, with the Toyota Prado (+147.4%) and Hilux (+131.9%) post posting spectacular gains to land in the first two spots, just above the RAV4 (+5.4%). In fact, there is only one non-Toyota in the 2018 Top 8: the Skoda Octavia (+18%) up two spots to #4, distancing the Toyota Camry (+110.3%), Corolla (-13.8%), C-HR (-7%) and Land Cruiser 200 (-48.7%). The Skoda Rapid (+150.9%) and Mitsubishi L200 (+300%) surge up into the Top 10, while the antediluvian Lada Niva (+6%) remains at #11. Notice also the Hyundai Ioniq landing at #15 and the Mercedes GLE at #19.
