Finland Full Year 2018: Nissan Qashqai outpaces Skoda Octavia to sign second ever win

The Nissan Qashqai is the best-selling vehicle in Finland for the second time  ever, after 2012.

New car sales in Finland edge up 1.5% in 2018 to 118.941 registrations. Market leader Toyota (+1.9%) sees its share stabilised at 12.6%, wheres Volkswagen (+4.1%) improves to 11.2%. Skoda (+1.7%), Volvo (+3.3%), Ford (+5.4%) and Nissan (+5.4%) hold onto their positions from #3 to #6, but the rest of the Top 10 is entirely in negative, with Audi (-12.2%), Kia (-8.4%), Opel (-7.1%) and Mercedes (-6.9%) all losing significant share. Further down, Subaru (+69.6%), Porsche (+65.7%), Hyundai (+48.6%), Citroen (+42.5%), Peugeot (+27.3%), Suzuki (+24.3%), Mini (+19.2%), Dacia (+13.1%) and Seat (+12.6%) are the most dynamic whereas Alfa Romeo (-48.4%), Renault (-30.8%) and Tesla (-30.4%) are struggling the most.

Over in the models ranking, the Nissan Qashqai (+9.5%) overtakes the Skoda Octavia (12.2%) to reclaim a throne it held once before: in 2012. The Toyota Yaris (+17.3%) leaps up two spots to land on the third step of the podium, eclipsing the VW Golf (-1 sale) and Toyota Auris (+7.6%). The Ford Fiesta (+48.8%) and Volvo XC60 (+37.8%) are both boosted by new generations up 7 spots to #6 and #7 respectively, while the VW Polo (+47.4%) is similarly lifted up 6 ranks to #9 and the Toyota C-HR (+16%) is up 5 to #12. The Hyundai i30 (+75.6%), Skoda Kodiaq (+42%), Hyundai i20 (+19.5%) and Kia Cee’d (+9.5%) also improve significantly whereas the Kia Rio (-46.6%), Volvo V90 (-35.9%), VW Passat (-28.9%), Opel Astra (-20.9%), Renault Clio (-18.8%), and Audi A4 (-18.6%) all crumble down.
